Finding Happiness with Matrix Reimprinting and EFT

—Releasing the past by letting go of limiting beliefs, feelings & traumas
Darshana Fordham—03/2013
Energy psychology is a relatively new system of healing that involves accessing feelings, beliefs and memories whilst tapping specific acupuncture points. Here Darshana Fordham gives an introduction to some of the most effective techniques that she uses with her clients.

MOST OF US WOULD AGREE that what has led to our dysfunction as adults stems from experiences in childhood and birth. Death of a parent, divorce, sexual abuse, constant criticism and abuse from an over-dominating parent create emotional "wounds". Young children are a lot much more fragile and vulnerable; it doesn't take a big trauma to significantly overwhelm their delicate nervous system.

There are many ways children feel wounded. For example: not measuring up to Mum or Dad's expectations; feeling that Mum or Dad loved your brother or sister more; feeling put down at the hands of other kids or teachers; feeling that they were not lovable, quiet or smart enough. These experiences produce emotional tension and anxiety inside little children. They hurt. And these experiences will trigger worry, anger, shame and unworthiness.

Youngster naturally and innocently respond by crying as a way to release anxiety and tension to restore inner balance. The majority of us happen to be taught to suppress our feelings. We have been taught that expressing our feelings is a sign of weakness.

Whenever we hold these toxic feelings inside us, we view and act through the coloured lens of this negativity. It shows in our behaviours, and in our relationships. The more unresolved anger we carry, the more negativity is expressed within our attitudes, judgments and actions. Repressed fears consume our self esteem and disturb our sense of safety in the world as an individual.

Many of us are familiar with the freeze response phenomena. It is a biological state which is designed to ensure our survival. Dr Scaer's research has involved paying attention to animals in the wild, and observing their behaviour during trauma. If you watch an animal being pursued by a predator on TV you will notice that as soon as the prey is pursued it will often collapse and become lifeless prior to being seized by a predator. The freeze response is usually a last resort for animals when flight or fight has failed. When it freezes, the animal releases a flood of endorphins, to ensure that if it is attacked, its suffering will be minimised, and often the assaulting animal becomes disinterested as soon as the prey stops moving. If the animal isn't eaten and survives the period of immobility, in practically all cases, the animal will start to tremble.

This can range from a shudder into a dramatic seizure. Dr Scaer reports that, when we analyse a slow-motion video of this trembling, it looks like the very last act from the animal before it froze — usually the act of running. So the animal discharges the freeze response by trembling, deep breathing and sweating.

After doing so it will get up, shake itself off, and after that be apparently none the worse for its ordeal. In this way, it seems that the animal has released all unconscious memory of the attack.

Human Beings are different. We don't release the freeze response. With time, we lost the ability to release the traumatic event by shaking after the event, and therefore we store it. Sections of our mind split off or disassociate to protect us from the trauma, which is why we normally do not remember a painful event immediately after it has occurred. But where does this disassociated portion go when it 'leaves' us?

The bestselling book "The Biology of Belief" Dr Bruce Lipton has led me to understand that these disassociated parts of ourselves go into an energy field called the Matrix. This energy field was first called the 'Matrix' by Max Planck in 1944, and in extra recent years author and researcher Lynne McTaggart has described it as 'The Field', mystic Greg Braden has referred to it as the 'Divine Matrix', while scientist Rupert Sheldrake has spoken of it as 'Morphic Fields'.

The good news is that we can heal traumas that are locked into this Matrix or energy field by using specific psychological techniques such as Matrix Reimprinting and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). To understand these techniques, it is good to have a fundamental introduction to a number of the modern theories of quantum physics.

What quantum physicists have helped us to know is the fact that we are all made up of energy, and that we are all connected by a unified power field. This notion has been popularised more lately by films such as The secret and What the Bleep do We Know? Many more people are coming to acknowledge the realizing that this field exists.

The Matrix Reimprinting Technique (which includes EFT protocols) can succeed to heal virtually any condition. The first 6 years are such a critical time during which our belief system is formed during. The core personality has its roots in the early years in childhood. Beliefs and traumas become the coloured lenses through which we perceive our individual worlds. These traumas can quickly be resolved with Matrix Reimprinting using EFT protocols.

As children, we develop attitudes & behaviour problem in order to survive. We become aware that we have a body, likes and dislikes, and we absorb emotions, ideas and attitudes, languages and beliefs from our environment such as parents, close family, peers, teachers etc… When our needs are not met, and we feel rejected, we experience separation and pain. Many of us do not experience a loving, nourishing safe environment which is essential for a child's safe and trusting development. As we grow up, our life experiences are compartmentalised in the mind adding more and more beliefs to the existing one. This goes on forever until the accumulation of pain in memories, beliefs are intolerable that we seek relief from it.

Thoughts when believed in, are followed by an emotional trigger in the body. We may not even know that we are invested in the belief that we are deficient and wounded. "I am not lovable, I am not good enough, the world is a dangerous place, I have to be perfect, there is something wrong with me", are just a few of the core beliefs that are the results of conclusions based on our life experiences.

Even if, we are aware that past experiences are at the root of our struggles in overcoming limiting beliefs, we may not have the right tools to break away from painful memories. In fact for most people feel powerless over the triggers of primal emotional energies that lie at the core of our personal stories. This is where Matrix Reimprinting comes in: it is exceptionally good at accessing subconscious memories and with disassociated traumas and resolving conflicts in the mind by relaxing the mind so that it releases locked information. When we clear up our inner conflicts, our external world also clears up. Research shows that it is our environment that changes our genes.

In the Human Genome project, which was completed in 2003, Konstantin Eriksen describes How Your Mind Can Reprogram Your Genes. It is an article on the experiment of John Cairns, a British molecular biologist who in 1988 produced compelling evidence that our environment influence the appearance of our genes.

In this article, Eriksen writes:

John Cairns took bacteria whose genes did not allow them to create lactase, the enzyme needed to digest milk sugar, and placed them in Petri dishes and the only food in this study was lactase. To his amazement within a small period of time, all of the Petri dishes had been colonized by bacteria. The bacterial DNA had evolved in response to its environment. This study has been reproduced again and again. The best explanation found so far is the undeniable fact - that even primitive organisms can evolve consciously. Information goes from DNA to proteins and from proteins to DNA. The consciousness of the cell is within the cell's membrane. Genes change their makeup depending on its environment and of our physical bodies.

So what does this mean in our day to day language? The recognition that beliefs can change our biology is revolutionary as it opens the doors to so many possibilities as to our physical and emotional health. We can transform our feelings of self-worth and improve our lives on every levels. The worst thing we can do to ourselves is to let ourselves be taken over by negativity and in the process set the body in a biological state of fear such as a fight-flight response.

In order to develop positively as human beings, we want to demonstrate positive emotions such as love, affection, joy and a desire. When we change our beliefs, we literally transform our biological response change our lives.

It is now widely accepted that genes change in response to environmental factors such as nutrients. New research has now demonstrated that genes respond to our environment, and that includes our conscious and unconscious, thoughts, beliefs and emotions.

According to Dr. Lipton, the true answer to life is not within your DNA, but the cell membrane mechanism. Each cell membrane has antennas that process the various environmental signals, and this is what controls the "response" of the genes inside your cells. Our cells are able to decipher the genetic blueprint from the environmental signals. This means that even if you have a "cancer blueprint" in your DNA, this genetic information does not ever have to express itself in the form of having cancer.

Stressful life events are held in our energy field, not only as memories but as precise energy bodies, which have been named Energy Consciousness Holograms or ECHOs. The Matrix Reimprinting technique makes it possible for us to access and dialogue with these ECHOs, resolving the negative energetic charge in the memories. This changes our relationship to our past, and impacts our physical and emotional wellness in the present.

Matrix Reimprinting works exceptionally well with the subconscious and you can gently interact and dialogue with the ECHO of your younger self in that memory. You are able to envision stepping into the image and tapping on your ECHO making use of the EFT protocol (whilst physically tapping on your self in the present), and enter into a dialogue with it, eliciting information and facts from that distinct trauma. The ECHO you happen to be interacting with has been holding onto the trauma, to help keep you protected. You are able to give your ECHO new tools or sources and allow it to express itself differently within the situation. What clients often report is that all the emotional intensity around the original memory has been resolved and that they generally only remember the new imprinted picture or that the old memory is empty of emotional charge so that they are able to recall it without difficulty and peace.

The revelation that we are not controlled by our genetic makeup is largely determined by your thoughts, attitudes, and perceptions! This is tremendously empowering as it gives us by the ability to take responsibility for individual health and well-being. Techniques such as energy psychology ease up re-adjusting the trauma and help manage our genetic expression. My favourite method for this is the Matrix Reimprinting and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), but choose whichever one appeals to you, until you find what works best for you.
